Marisol Rojas is an interdisciplinary visual artist and researcher who has spent the past ten years experimenting in traditional techniques such as printmaking, drawing, and watercolor and their intersection with new methods like animation, digital video, photography and different possibilities for printing on diverse supports. Her early work addressed issues such as rural communities and portraiture. Currently, she works on topics related to women’s empowerment from different perspectives. In addition to her work as an artist, she does research and critical writing on issues of art and politics, particularly on drawing, printmaking, and installations, on which she has presented papers and has publications in press. She has also done curatorial work related to experimental art of the 1970s in Mexico and queer cinema. Her work as a visual artist has been exhibited in Mexico, Ecuador, Cuba, Japan, and Spain, and she has obtained diverse scholarships for her B.A. and M.A. degrees, and for the development of research and visual art projects.
